With Plans for Operations in Over 30 Cities, Americold is Enlarging Profile in China Market

Americold, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, is continuing its expansion in China. With operations in 16 cities throughout the PRC, the world’s largest provider of temperature-controlled warehouse and transportation services isn’t slowing down.

Americold’s extensive network of modern multi-temperature facilities makes it the largest wholly-owned foreign third party cold chain service provider in China through its joint venture, China Merchants Americold (CMAC). CMAC’s goal is to provide superior-level service to multinational companies in the PRC as well as market-to-market services, granting Americold’s customers easy access to distribution capabilities within China. Neal J. Rider, CMAC’s chief executive officer and president of Americold’s international operations, expects to be able to offer service in more than 30 of China’s fast-growing cities in the next five years.

Americold offers an integrated warehouse and transportation capability with both long haul and direct store delivery services in China. This allows companies to outsource logistics functions while focusing on their core competency of manufacturing, processing or retailing. CMAC’s combined network and transportation service has given it the scale needed to develop consolidation services resulting in a 20-30% reduction in logistics costs for customers, many of whom are major retailers and foodservice companies.

With the drive to increase trade with China, Americold is also expanding its service offering to provide a turnkey end-to-end solution for companies looking for a better way to enter the PRC’s vast market. The service not only helps bridge a gap in the cold supply chain, but is another step in the process of transforming Americold into a global provider of temperature-controlled distribution solutions.
