J.R. Simplot’s Baby Bakers a Fresh Idea: RoastWorks Miniature Seasoned Potatoes

Roasted Vegetable & Fruit Baby Bakers are new under J.R. Simplot’s RoastWorks foodservice line of products.

A novel side dish for foodservice operators to serve up has been introduced by J.R. Simplot, the Boise, Idaho, USA-headquartered producer of value-added potato products and other frozen convenience items sold through foodservice and retail supermarket outlets. RoastWorks® Baby Bakers offer petite size, shape and fresh-baked potato flavor and texture to assist innovative chefs, meal planners and menu makers in putting a unique twist on a wide range of side dishes and signature specialty items.

Developed as a “baby vegetable,” the miniature golden potatoes are carefully grown to their small size to ensure premium baked potato flavor, fresh texture and roasted appearance. Said to be the only roasted baked potato product of its kind, the spuds are lightly seasoned with roasted garlic and black pepper.

The whole, skin-on bite-sized potatoes with the taste and appearance of a full-sized baker can be served with garlic, shallots, lemon zest, parsley and olive oil, allowing foodservice operators to increase plate appeal while cutting preparation time and cost.

Good for Dipping and Lots More

Baby Bakers can also be used for dipping – as well as in recipes such as Vegetable Fondue or Baby Bakers with Three Sauces: Chimichurri, Romesco and Bacon-Gorgonzola. With one-step, cook-to-order-preparation, they are formulated to make it easy for kitchen personnel to create Rosemary & Lemon Chicken Skewers, while saving time and adding a high perceived value and robust plate coverage.
