KX Logistics Opens Coldstore in Beijing;
Joint Venture Operation with Rich Products
Beijing-based KX Logistics (KXL), a joint venture partner of Rich Products, Buffalo, New York, USA, has opened one of the People’s Republic of China’s largest refrigerated and frozen food warehouses in Beijing.
KXL, said to be China’s premier cold chain third-party logistics (3PL) provider, serves some of the world’s leading multinational food companies, as well as Rich’s own warehousing and distribution needs in the country. Rich Products acquired a majority interest in the company in 2003.
KXL owns and operates three additional temperature-controlled warehouses in China, situated in Tianjin, Suzhou and Guangzhou. The new facility measures 12,000 square meters. KXL has more than 100 refrigerated transport vehicles and assures that it can move products safely and efficiently to all parts of the country.
Bob Rich and Mindy Rich, chairman and vice-chairman of Rich Products, recently joined Wei Gau, KXL general manager, in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“KX Logistics’ new Beijing facility is the most sophisticated third-party warehouse in China,” said Jeff Kim, president of Rich’s Asia business, headquartered in Shanghai. “Not only can the new warehouse hold up to 12,000 tons of food and keep the temperature as low as -28° degrees C (-18.4° F), but KXL also uses an advanced global positioning system to keep track of every step of the transport and warehousing process for clients.”
“There is a huge increase in demand for frozen foods in China and a greater recognition of the need for a safe food supply,” said Kevin Malchoff, president of Rich’s International Business Group. “We believe that the services that KX Logistics provides will allow multinational manufacturers of frozen and refrigerated foods to grow at an accelerated rate.” |
