Extends Range to Fillets, Crab

| The introduction of Maryland Style Crab Cakes and other products marks a new chapter in the history of SeaPak Shrimp Co., which has expanded its product line with three non-shrimp offerings. |
SeaPak Shrimp Co., a supplier of packaged frozen shrimp products to the USA market since 1948, has added premium fish fillets and Maryland-style crab cakes to its product line.
In December the St. Simons Island, Georgia-based packer introduced SeaPak Herb Butter Salmon and SeaPak Artichoke Pesto Tilapia. A month later it began rolling out the crab cakes.
“Most prepared fish fillets in stores today are square in shape because they are cut from giant blocks of frozen fish meat,” explained Jamie McKeon, vice president of marketing for parent company Rich Products Corporation. “We cut our fillets from the body of individual fish and prepare them with all-natural ingredients, without additives or preservatives of any kind.”
SeaPak Artichoke Pesto Tilapia is distributed in 340-gram packs containing two six-ounce fillets seasoned with a mixture of diced artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, garlic, basil, olive oil, lemon juice, spices and parmesan cheese. The Herb Butter Salmon dish consists of two portions of wild-caught Alaska salmon fillets seasoned with herb butter, white wine, garlic, lemon juice and a blend of herbs and spices.
SeaPak’s Maryland Style Crab Cakes feature a pair of three-ounce, hand-prepared products made with 100% blue crab meat, seasonings, mayonnaise, onions and brad crumbs. A sauce is included in the 227-gram package.
“This is one of the most significant milestones in the history of our company,” said McKeon.
In business for almost 60 years, the firm has historically focused on value-added breaded and unbreaded shrimp items such as SeaPak branded Jumbo Butterfly Shrimp, Popcorn Shrimp and Shrimp Scampi. They ranked first, second and third in sales in their category for the year ending Oct. 14, 2007, according to IRI. |
