| More R&R for Ice Cream Giant |
The R&R Ice Cream Group has once again expanded its production
and sales capacity through an acquisition. Cartel authorities
have approved the takeover of Rolland SAS, France's third largest
ice cream producer. Rolland employs 520 persons and has two
production facilities in France turning out 65 million liters of
ice cream a year.
This gives R&R an annual production capacity of more than 500
million liters, and makes it the second biggest ice cream
producer in Germany, Great Britain and France. "The signals are
set for our further growth in the European market," said CEO
Europe Dr. Ibrahim Najafi. "The distribution of our production
facilities over all Europe is our decisive competitive advantage.
Among our strengths is the flexibility to react to market and
customer demands."
Lionel Rolland, the great grandson of the French family firm's
founder, will join the R&R management board with responsibility
for France. The acquisition is probably not going to be the last.
"We would hope to have bought another two or three businesses by
January next year," said R&R's UK CEO James Lambert.
