| Eliminate US Fancy Grade? Fancy that! |
The US Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) wants to revise 18
grade standards for frozen vegetables issued on or before July
22, 1985, and is looking for public comments.
The main object of the AMS is to replace the two term system with
a single term to describe each quality level for its grade
standards. Terms using letter grades would be retained, but
descriptive terms would be eliminated.
For example, US Grade A would be kept, but US Fancy dropped; US
Grade B would be retained, but US Extra Standard would be
eliminated. In addition miscellaneous changes would be made to
update a number of references to licensed supplier addresses and
incorporate updated terminology that reflects current marketing
practices.
